Spare the Rod, Spoil the Child

I have been tagged and have no clue what that means! But I think I am supposed to give my opinion. Kaylyn, you must know that this is quite the heated topic on many mom web boards. My web board is no exception to that. So I will refrain from tagging anyone (not like I know how to anyway, haha).

Do I beleive the title, Spare the Rod, Spoil the Child? Well, I actually believe that you do what works. Some people redirect bad behavior, some people spank, some people simply do nothing. I have spanked and do occasionally but with Ryan I feel that it is unaffective. I am corner person. It kills Ryan to be in the corner and not able to run around. However, if I am in public and he smacks me b/c he is mad at me, then he gets a slap on the wrist and a stern talking to. It's a hard call. But as a wise friend has told me, you have to be consistent. That is hard but we are trying. The time to discipline will come sooner that later. And what you choose now may not work later.

(This is all said today as Ryan is trying my patience to no end and I am about to put him in the corner, haha)
